da eh idt those need to be entirely conflicting, that line of thought's what feeds into the delegitimizing of idols' work and i think is partly to blame for the weird identity crisis established hip hop dols go through

like it's an understandable thing to struggle with imo? but that doesn't make it any less annoying when they go on about how certain things (especially the more feminized aspects of the idol industry) aren't real hip hop and take issue with them
