i feel horrible for the hk people and would hate it if my idols supported what was going on but let it go.

da i do feel bad and ashamed but i don't doubt some of them feel bad as well. we can't know their reasons and it's definitely not as simple as personal feelings or money (considering how different careers and financial situations of the idols involved are). this picking and choosing of who to judge and how harshly is more trolling and less concern for the situation

i you're mostly agreeing with me. it's just trolling and i don't expect any to speak up against the hk police since most of my faves aren't from hk or mainland but i am interested in knowing what a good reason would be to support aside from money/career?

but anon i honestly don't feel qualified to speak on this. i feel like it's the wrong thing to speculate about when we can hardly imagine the scope of china's control and atrocities. just looking at the sampling of idols, it's all over the place. those born in ch/hk/tw, with careers in china and without. i don't want to say gov't coercion, although celebs would be one of the primary targets, it could be pressure from their families or management to fall in line. it's just a sad situation that i wouldn't wish on anyone

ty for replying. this is exactly the thing that the hk people are fighting against so that just makes it feel worse that any idols are choosing to publicly support the otherside

yeah ik it's selfishness but a lot of people aren't wired to be able to give up careers and families for moral and political ideologies. i'd love to think i'd be able to but idk if i would be. that's partly where my own shame comes from
